Nowadays kids are not concerned about the correct use water resources.
The aim of this project is to create an intelligent didactical bathroom in order to educate children so that they become aware of unnecessary waste of water while their Bathroom Eco-Experience.
For achieving this goal, the help of Fluvi is indispensable. Fluvi is going to give advice to the children of how should they have a shower, wash their teeth and their hands in case the parents are not available at the moment. Fluvi will guide the children so that they know step by step what to do to have good hygiene habits.
Nevertheless, the system is also a good and easy way to help the family members to save water and control what is happening in the bathroom.
Pressure sensor on the shower mat for starting the shower experience, water consumption and temperature sensors for the shower and sink. Presence sensors for automatic lights.
The system takes tracks of children behaviour and will try to improve it during time.
Automatic lights, indicator LEDs, music sound and automatic water temperature control.
The Virtual Educator guides the child explaining each step by voice means.
The system is able to detect the water consumption and temperature. Moreover if the user is following the indications of the system.
The system analyses the data received by the sensors, and selects the correct protocol which the child have to proceed.
The system performs different tutorials depend on the children´s behaviour.
The system compiles the waste of water and also detects whether if the child is taking the bath as he should or not.
Sensors are installed all over the bathroom, however the user could monitor the statistics of consumption in the database.
Each component of the system is integrated in the bathroom
The goal of our system is to make the children aware of the importance of taking care of the water in these days that we are facing so much problems with water scarcity.
For achieving this goal, we will teach children how they should have shower, wash their teeth and their hands to reduce the water consumption.
The system consists in a Virtual Educator that shows step by step every activity. There will be sensors in the shower and sink measuring water consumption, water temperature and presence.
With the obtained results the system will guide the child through sound and colourful-light effects for reaching a sustainable behaviour.
Water Scarfy: relevant risk for the future generations that we could to avoid it with our system.
User: person who interacting with the system.
Mat: pressure sensor which detects the presence of the child and initialize the shower protocol.
Consumption: quantity of water that it is consumes for the users.
Fluvi: personal tutor that helps the child during his experiences with the bathroom.
Bathroom: localization where is installed our system.
Shower personalization: feature of the system for setting different parameters such as the time or type of bath.
Child who interacting with the system acquire proper habits with the enviroment.
People who manage the statistics of water consumption and different settings of the system.
The system activates the lights of the bathroom when someone enters.
The system activates the shower protocol when the user stands on the mat by a pressure sensor.
It asks the user for identification whether he or she is a child or adult.
The system detects if the user gets the gel or shampoo.
The system detects when the user grab either the soap or the toothbrush and begins the protocol depending on the result.
The system detects water consumption and temperature.
The system communicates with the user via light and sounds.
The user is able to modify the system notifications depending of the type of the bath, water consumption and the established average shower time.
The user is able to choose the water consumption and time of the shower.
The user is able to consult the statistics of water consumption.
In case of water flooding away for long time the system will give an advertisement to the user.
The system automatically turns on and off the room lights.
The system acts in real time and waste the exact quantity of water. It also integrated in the bathroom space. The sensing system is basically conformed by presence, flooding and temperature sensors, as they are really simple and well known sensors they should be really efficient.
The system interacts with the user mainly with voice communication mainly if the user is a child, also with the help of Fluvy images which helps the young person understand better.
As the system is basically a tutorial, and the functions made by the sensors are really basic, the reliability of the program is really high, despite the fact of the maintenance of the sensors.
Portability in our system is not available, as it is design for a specific zone in the house and it should be isolated of water reach so that the circuits and connection does not suffer any damage with humidity.
The system is adapted to children and could be used for all types of ages. Therefore doesn´t infringe any ethical reflection.
The system doesn´t need any personal information to operate and doesn´t have to comply the privacy laws.
Central Server: the Central Server is the brain of the intelligent bathroom. All computation is helded in the mini-computer. The Central Server is connected to all sensor and actuators and defines when to act.
Automatic lights: the regular lightbulbs are substituted by intelligent ones that are conected to the Central Server and they’re turned on and off automatically.
Mat pressure sensor: the shower mat will contain a pressure sensor that indicates to the Central Server if someone is standing on it.
Gel and Shampoo sensor: a double pressure sensor below each of the products detects if some of them are removed by the child and communicates to the Central Server.
Temperature and water flow sensor: this is the main sensor of the system, it detects the water flow and temperature and sends the data to the Central Server where computations are made.
Speaker: there is a waterproof speaker inside the shower, connected to the central server via bluetooth, this will reproduce the shower teacher commands.
LED lightbulb: there is a LED ligthbulb near the shower that indicates shower time to the user via different color lights. (It turns from Green to Red, going through Yellow as the time goes by).
Temperature and water flow sensor: this is the main sensor of the system, it detects the water flow and temperature and sends the data to the Central Server where computations are made.
Soap and toothbrush detector: this sensor detects if the user is getting the soap or the toothbrush to communicate to the central server which of the protocols(teeth or hands) should activate.
Speaker: there is a waterproof speaker inside the shower, connected to the central server via bluetooth, this will reproduce the sink teacher commands(either toothbrushing or hand washing).
LED lightbulb: there is a LED ligthbulb near the shower that indicates shower time to the user via different color lights. (It turns from Green to Red, going through Yellow as the time goes by).
The main program of the system is held on the Central Server:
The system activates the protocol when the pressure sensor placed in the mat detects someone standing on the mat (Se:2). The system asks the user if he is a child and if the answer is positive starts the shower protocol (Se:3). The system is able to track if the child is following its instructions or not (Se:4). In order to know when to notify (In:1) the system control the water comsumption (Se:6).
It is somehow a simplified version of the shower protocol. In this case in order to initiate the protocol the system detects if the user get’s the toothbrush or presses the soap dispenser (Se:5)
The room lights are connected to a Z-wave movement detector to turn them on and off automaticaly.
The user interaction with the system will be through a web application..
